EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES
On the 1st January, 2007 Bulgaria and Romania joined the European Union increasing the number of member states to 27.
The original 15 countries were:-
Austria - Belgium - Denmark - Finland - France - Germany - Greece Ireland - Italy - Luxembourg - Netherlands - Portugal - Spain - Sweden - United Kingdom
Joined by 10 others on the 1st May, 2004.
Cyprus - Czech Republic - Estonia - Hungary - Latvia - Lithuania Malta - Poland - Slovakia - Slovenia.
Latest 2 additions on 1st January, 2007.
