Creative Ways to Decorate a Bedroom with Crystal.

by Jessica Ackerman of www.WallDecorandHomeAccents.com

bedroom Nothing brings a splash of elegance to a space like the glitz of fine crystal. The way it catches and plays with light, sending beautiful patterns dancing across the room, no one can deny the power of crystal to add a touch of class.

While perfectly at home in the dining room, using crystal in unexpected way can bring a whiff of luxury and sparkle to any room in the house.

In this article, we’ll look at how crystal can be used in a bedroom as part of a classic, modern or whimsical design.

Lighting Magic

The most dramatic way to inject crystal in a room is to hang a gorgeous chandelier, dripping with sparkling, reflective teardrops.

Crystal chandeliers come in as many styles, shapes and even colors as you can imagine, and can be a fantastic accent in decorating schemes of every style.

Sophisticated, high fashion inspired rooms for teenage girls; luxurious master suites draped in sleek fabrics; romantic boudoirs and old Hollywood inspired spaces can all benefit from the beauty of a crystal fixture as a focal point.

Before attempting to hang a chandelier, you will need to prepare the ceiling. Chandeliers need a great deal of support, consult a professional no matter the size of your new fixture to ensure proper bracing and placement of base against a ceiling joist. Safety first! Electrical projects are also no place for beginners. If you need to add a power source in the ceiling and are not an electrician, call one.

Accessorizing with Crystal

Vintage perfume bottles, candy dishes and vases of surprisingly high quality can be found in flea markets, garage sales and consignment shops. Quality crystal is highly collectable; as a result there is usually a wide array of pieces available at online auction sites in range of prices.

If you’d like to take subtle a step further, adding a few strands of crystal here and there in your bedroom can add the sparkle a perfect pair of diamond stud earrings adds to a little black dress.

Consider sewing a strand to the seam of curtains, crafting a sparking ceiling fan pull or accenting a boring candle holder. Use your imagination and don’t be afraid to get creative.
