9 Ball Pool - Trick Shots TRICK SHOT No 1 - Parting the Red Sea The shot goes from one side pocket through to the other. There are 3 balls placed in a tight triangle. The 1 ball is the first to be struck by the cue ball although it is the 8 ball which will end up in the opposite side pocket. There are then 6 balls arranged in successive pairs between the 1st triangle and the side pocket. Use medium strength and hit the cue ball in the centre. Aim to make half ball contact with the 1st ball on the right hand side.
TIPS The 3 ball needs to strike the 4 ball about 3/4rs of the 4 ball on the left hand side. Refer to the picture as this clearly shows the 3 and 4 balls are not in a straight line. This is crucial to the success of the shot. This video will show how it should be done.
TRICK SHOT No. 2 - Cue is Quicker Than the Eye Set up 2 balls in a row directly in front of a side pocket. Notice that there is another, third ball, in the way. Play through the 3rd ball very quickly so that the cue actually hits the second ball and then on to the first ball and the side pocket. Understand that because it is done so quickly and with such confidence it is very difficult to spot the foul. Note that this is simple solution, but a difficult trick to spot.
TIPS Confidence and a tight grip on your cue are essential. Click through the video to see how it is done. More videos showing other trick shots as well as the History, Object and Rules of 9 Ball Pool
